Flexible Response - Resilient Identity (tape, Zimbo Tapes 05, 198?)

A somewhat different cover design here for this tape by Flexible Response, all handmade, so perhaps a lot earlier than the ones I posted so far. Here they are a duo of of Rik on bass, synth, rhythm and the like and Marcel on vocals, guitar, synth and lyrics.

Band-It 13 (tape, Kassetto Fix 198?)

As promised, here is another issue of Band-It, all about industrial music. This one doesn't appear on Discogs, oddly enough. I have no other issues of this audio magazine.

Band-It 10 (tape, Kassetto Fix 1983)

A magazine on cassette, with excerpts from released records, and bits of interview. Unindexed. I have two issues. Tomorrow the other one.

Randall Kennedy - Scenes From Redemption (Pts. 1 & 2) (tape, Trance Port Tapes trance 2, 1983)

Another nice tape on a brilliant label, but I have no clue about this.

Dau Tranh (tape, Thirty, 198?)

A rather obscure tape on Thirty, the sub-division of Zimbo, which might be a sort of compilation, but then maybe also a tape in which various musical sources are mixed together. Contributions by Hybryds, Animazione Diretta Da, Pink Fungus and Magthea.

Mushroom - Lucid Interval (tape, Zimbo Tapes 27, 1983)

Response to yesterday's call for help on re-upping has been zero, apart from the guy who put up
some on his rapidshare which prompted this call from me. Thanks a lot of this support. It really made me wonder about this operation. Here's another tape by Flexible Response's Marcel, but for whatever reason I don't know its under the name of Mushroom.

The Death Project Volume Two (tape, Lor teeps 11, 198?)

Its been a while since I posted the first volume of this compilation (a link which is curiously enough still online). Someone asked for a whole bunch of stuff to be send 1:1, but he offered to re-up them on his rapidshare account - all from the last two months. Which made me think: maybe there are other people other who are willing to contribute and re-up on whatever open server and send me the link? Just send me a list of what you are willing to do.

Zimbo & Wedge - Train Oddity (Our Cassingle) (tape, Zimbo Tapes 2, 1985)

The only one of two releases by John P.'s alias Zimbo that actually appears on discogs. A short tape!

Kalahari Surfers - Gross National Product (tape, 235/2, 1983)

Perhaps the very first band from South Africa on this blog, although the tape was released by 235. From Discogs: "Formed in 1982, the Kalahari Surfers was essentially a string of studio projects realised by Warrick Sony at Shifty Studios during the 80's. These involved various personnel from that environment whose names were altered or simply reduced to first names to safegaurd against security dirty tricks persecution. The band itself was a fictional collective designed to dodge any flak that may have appeared from these forces.  The first release was inspired by the do-it-yourself punk ethic and was a cassette packaged in a silver spray painted box containing 60 minutes of music all recorded in a bedroom on a 4 track portastudio. It was titled 'Gross National Product'. "Being a white English South African means being schizophrenic. It means not having a firm foot in any culture, but also it means being priviledged to be exposed to many wildly diverse aspects of social life. A tapestry of influences." Warrick Sony is the only remaining member."

Marc Marc - Unicum 20 (tape, 1983)

A self-released tape, a whole series, but always in an edition of 1 copy. I only have number 20, and I am not sure if I indexed it right. Marc Marc was an artist from Amsterdam.

Ericka Irganon - Le Rat D'Hotel (tape, Ptose Production PPP17, 1984)

I couldn't find this tape on discogs and don't know much about her. Great synth music of course since its on Ptose label.

Phyllyp Vernacular - Cognitive Dissonance (tape, Eugene Electronic Music Collective, 1985)

I have no idea who he is, and couldn't index his tape of electronic music. Nice handmade cover with cloth, and screws.

Plop (tape, Das Fröhliche Wohnzimmer – DFW 1, 198?)

Nice compilation!

Flexible Response - Irrelevant Disobedience (tape, Zimbo Tapes 26, 1982)

Two posts today, as I am going away for a few days. First another fine tape by Flexible Response from 1982.

Les Electriques (tape, Style Productions S3, 1982)

All french band compilation with all sorts of music from rock like to free stuff and electronic. Nice one.

Comrads Creating - In The Combat Zone (tape, Egmondse Klank Op-sessie, 1987)

I posted tapes before from this label, but at long last here's another one. Comrads Creating is a loose concept of musicians from the label playing together, in a dub like manner, but hardly reggea like.

On-Slaught No. 5 (tape/magazine, Idiosyncratics, 1984)

Besides a rip of the cassette this also includes a scan of the entire magazine.

Pascal Comelade & Bel Canto Orchestra - Milano Enarmonisto (tape, ADN 05, 1984)

So it had it come one day: my mediafire account is now suspended, which means that almost all of my links are death. I re-upped them over the years a couple of times (following similar breakdowns of Mass Mirror and Megaupload), and I am not doing it again. For now I will try Depositfiles for a while, although my experience with them is not the best, but at least I am trying to finish this bunch of tapes that I have here and then surely its time to call it a day for this blog. Here is a fine tape by Pascal Comelade solo on one side and his Bel Canto Orchestra on the other.

Revista 25 (tape, 1983)

Ok, so why not straight away the only other release I got from this label/magazine from Rotterdam. Unindexed this time. I guess click on image to see whose on there.

Revista 26 (tape, 1983)

A sort of magazine on tape, dealing with concerts and music from Rotterdam, mainly from a venue called Hal4. Here we have Los Jaivos, O. Olsen, Quando Quango, Corridor Des Affaires, Radeis, Environmental Projects, G. Armes & T. Flitcroft, Assorted Blainisms, Olsen/Werleman/Corridor, Geno Sliwa, Herbert Verhey, Wim de Kiefte. Not overal a great sound qaulity. I have one other issue of this, but none of the others.

Arts Collective Items (tape, 198?)

A collective of artists and musicians working together. It says (in Dutch) that there will be a new cassette every quarter, but I doubt wether that happened. Quite experimental and electronic. See also yesterday's post. Involved musicians are Coen de Neef, Fred Flerst, John Zandijk, Andre de Vries, Cora Emens, Saskia Vingerhoed and others.

Saskia - Eeuwig Op Reis (tape, 198?)

One of those things I know nothing about by some woman named Saskia. She was part of a collective of musicians caled Arts, of which I will post something tomorrow. Experimental and electronic, with the voice of Saskia and all improvised.

Another tape by Marcel's Flexible Response project.

Winston Tong - Like The Others (tape, Les Disques Du Crépuscule TWI 045, 1983)

solo poetry and piano release by Tuxedo Moon member.

Julia Heyward & T. Venus - Keep Moving Body (tape, Hey-tapes Ward 1, 198?)

A rather short and highly obscure tape, which I don't think is on discogs. Maybe anyone knowns something about this?

Sol Diese - Réalisme & Simulation (tape, 1983)

"Cassette is embedded in a red suede pouch with picture scraped in, wrapped in a black, screen printed, triple folded j-card." I think Sol Diese was a solo project of a member of Utilisation Du Vieux Port. Great moody electronic music.

Philippe Laurent - Système Clair (tape, Fraction Studio fs24, 1984)

Another fine short tape. Since I forgot to put something here yesterday this short one today and another one in a few minutes.

The Best Of Zimbo (tape, Zimbo 3, 198?)

So we have entered the whole foggy world of Zimbo. 'The Best Of Zimbo' is actually the title of various cassettes and I guess they are all different. Here we have electronic music by The Kif Brothers, The Smelly Tongues, Zimbo & Wedge, Zimbo, Mojique, Embryø, The Book Of…, John & Peter. Nice stuff.

Time Clock Turn Back (tape, Pleasantly Surprised PS009, 1983)

From Discogs: "A British instrumental quartet, Dif Juz (a play on "different jazz") consisted of brothers Dave & Alan Curtis (both guitarists), bassist Gary Bromley and drummer/occasional sax player Richard Thomas. They released two seminal EPs; Huremics and Vibrating Air in 1981 on the then fledgling 4AD label. The band then departed 4AD for the label Red Flame in 1983 where they released an experimental mini LP Who Says So?, following this they toured extensively through 1984 and 1985 supporting Cocteau Twins and Wolfgang Press, The before returning to 4AD to record their first full-length LP Extractions which featured contributions by Cocteau Twins Elizabeth Fraser (vocals) and Robin Guthrie (production). Shortly thereafter Dif Juz were introduced to Jamaican dub innovator Lee Perry and served as his backing band for a series of shows before eventually attempting to make a record together. The five tracks that were recorded - including a nine-minute version of "The Mighty Quinn" - never quite gelled, despite Robin Guthrie's attempts to mix them and the collaboration remains unreleased.  With the exception of a reissued and re-recorded Huremics and Vibrating Air (respectively) in the form of Out Of The Trees and a contribution to the 1986 4AD compilation Lonely Is An Eyesore the band effectively disappeared, though the members remained active separately; the Curtis brothers and Ritchie Thomas both recorded parts for This Mortal Coil's Filigree & Shadow album, whilst Thomas would also appear that year on the Cocteau Twins/Harold Budd collaboration The Moon And The Melodies playing drums and saxophone. He and Dave Curtis also contributed to The Wolfgang Press' albums Queer and Funky Little Demons, respectively.  It is rumoured that the band's 'final' dissolution came when Richard Thomas became a touring drummer for Jesus And Mary Chain, The, though the band never officially split up. After many years of silence, the posthumous release by 4AD of Huremics and Vibrating air appeared in the form of Soundpool in 1999. Coinciding with the album was the creation of a website which appeared to be created by the band. This page ran the banner "By us about us", as well as "More soon" though this never materialized."

Mario Marzidovsek - II (tape, Marzidovshek Minimal Laboratorium – MML 002, 1985)

From discogs: "Mario Marzidovsek was one of the pioneers of the Yugoslavian/Slovenian oldschool industrial/noise scene. He started releasing tapes in 1984 (but had already recorded some music a bit earlier), previously being a productive member of the mail art network. Around 1988/1989 he aborted all his activities and moved to the Netherlands and later Germany, where he even performed a couple of times, finally returning in 1991 in Slovenska Bistrica where he remained silent."

Film Is A Life (tape, Kassetto Fix, 1982)

Great compilation that perhaps is a bit of a copy of Ding Dong's 'Film Noir', but with a fine line up. The original came in a metal box, film can sized.
